I was born in Darwin in 1970. Following the destruction of Cyclone Tracy in 1974 and losing everything they owned, my parents moved our then young family to Howard Springs. Together with my wife Sharon and our four children, I still reside on the Maley family block we moved to in 1974 and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.
I’ve seen the rural area rebuild, grow and diversify over this time and I am proud to be a part of this community.
I went to Howard Springs Primary School and Taminmin High and then qualified as an auto mechanic. After working as a local tradie and in administration in the Northern Territory Public Service, I went back to study law at Charles Darwin University. After obtaining my Bachelor of Law, I started working for Maley’s Barristers and Solicitors, advocating and representing rural people through our Coolalinga office.
I am passionate about our unique rural lifestyle, which I want future generations to be able to enjoy and afford. I believe that in our area – people care a lot more about if you are a part of the community than if you are a part of politics. I am a current member of the Howard Park Reserve Committee and President of the Litchfield Polocrosse Association.
Protecting our rural lifestyle and creating jobs and growth through sensible development is important and together with the people of Nelson I plan to get the balance right. Gerry Wood has done a good job representing the local community and I want to continue to fight for our area, however I believe the best way to do this is as part of a Country Liberals team. I believe and hold the same values as those that the Country Liberal Party was on founded - A Party created by Territorians for all Territorians, to govern the Territory for all Territorians. Built on delivering prosperity and opportunity.
I believe that through my life and work experience, running a small business and my community involvement, I am well placed to advocate for the protection of our rural lifestyle whilst ensuring prosperous opportunities for Territorians.
When I am not working I enjoy hunting, fishing, camping, polocrosse and other sporting activities as well as spending time with my family and friends who keep me grounded.
