candidate for Johnston
A born and bred Territorian, Josh Thomas has been involved in the Johnston electorate all his life. Owning a small business, Mr Thomas is an active member of the community, and has raised his family in Darwin’s northern suburbs.
Having already campaigned in the electorate for nearly 11 months, Josh is well and truly aware of the issues facing the people of Johnston, which he says are crime and the economy.
Josh is passionate about giving back to the community, and shows this through his work in helping prisoners create structure in their lives for their release. He knows the importance of having a job for people leaving the prison system, and knows having a job stops criminals from reoffending. He wants to use this experience to help the CLP’s plan to tackle crime in the community.
A talented musician, Josh teaches guitar lessons and has played roles in creating and running events like the Darwin Blues Festival.
The feedback Josh has had from the constituents of Johnston is that crime and the economy are the two biggest issues they face. He knows Johnston was once an open door suburb, but now it’s unsafe and crime is rife. People are also concerned about job security in a poor economy.
Josh is excited to put in the hard work to the Johnston by-election.
