More about Gwoja Electorate
My name is Phillip Alice and I am an Arrente Traditional Leader and have lived my whole life along with my wife Agnes and my two children and grandchildren in the Santa Teresa community south of Alice Springs.
I am standing for the Country Liberal Party of the Northern Territory in the seat of Gwoja at the 2020 Northern Territory election on Saturday August 22 because I am the strongest person to get things done for the community.
I went to school at Santa Teresa primary school, Yirrara College, Amoonguna Community School, Alice Springs High School and completed my education at St John’s College in Darwin.
For 25 years I have worked as a Community Policeman in the Santa Teresa community. For ten years, I was the only Community Police Officer based in Santa Teresa looking after 600 of our people and as well as 200 people at the Titjikala community.
Just like many of you, I love my sport. I have had been involved in the sporting community at Santa Theresa for as long as I can remember from coaching various sports teams to being the manager of the Santa Teresa football team when we won our first AFL grand final in 2018 and then again 2019.
I am also involved in other Santa Teresa sporting groups such as the men’s and women’s softball and netball teams.
As the leader of Santa Teresa, I, and a group of other people from Santa Teresa were invited to the 2017 Emirates Melbourne Cup where I had the great honour of walking the Melbourne Cup to the winners’ circle to hand over to the delegates.
In 1993, I walked 280km from Andadio Station to Santa Teresa to help raise money for my disabled sister so she could buy a wheelchair. This fundraising walk was organised by myself and my family members.
I am a Traditional Aboriginal man and the spokesman of the Santa Teresa Leadership Group that works with the community and is the voice of concerns from our community back to various government agencies.
I am proud to be part of the Country Liberal Party because we want to see more local business opportunities created in the community so more people will have jobs.
Business will create jobs and security and only myself and the Country Liberal Party can do that to help you.
